sound installation 24 h
Raul Keller’s Reflector is the first official acquisition of the EKKM collection. EKKM board member Marco Laimre bought it for one kroon, which he found in the Culture Cauldron’s yard. Reflector is a work that is a 24-hour sound composition, which repeats throughout the entire exhibition. Sound bites for the composition have been collected in the vicinity of the exhibition during two weeks. In order to avoid a sound-related overload of the location, the performance frequency of the recorded sound bites corresponds to the natural background noise of the location. The installation reflects the location’s characteristic sound environment while adding to it and shifting it. Additional keywords are public/private space, noise pollution and the cheap functionalist esthetics of transmission networks.
